It’s been more than a year since we’ve seen Zac Efron’s gorgeous face grace the silver screen. While the “High School Musical” star will be back in just two and a half weeks with “Charlie St. Cloud,” Zac’s been veeeery busy in the meantime.
After setting up his own production company, called Ninjas Runnin’ Wild Prods., in February, Zac has added five different projects to his to-do list. Most recently, it was announced that he’s teaming up with the writer and producers behind “17 Again” for an “untitled workplace comedy,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Also in the works are “Art of the Steal,” about a master thief and based on a Wired magazine article, “Einstein Theory,” a time-travel story that will star Zac, “Fire,” based on a graphic novel about a college student-turned-CIA trainee, and “Snabba Cash,” a remake of a recent Swedish thriller.
If that weren’t enough, Zac will also lend his voice talents to the Cartoon Network’s “Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III” as Anakin Skywalker, which will debut on Adult Swim in December. Does the man ever take time out to breathe?
It’s clear from the variety of projects that Zac is involved in that he intends to make his name as a legitimate Hollywood producer. As long as there aren’t any extended musical numbers in his new films, maybe he’ll eventually shake the “HSM” associations. Not that we wouldn’t mind seeing Zac sing and dance again — the pre-basketball game Hammer dance in “17 Again” was a highlight of the movie.
What do you think of Zac’s new projects? Which one sounds the most interesting?
